Setting Up WS-FTP Program - 1st Page.
|
Configuring WS_FTP, These are the complete set of step
by step instructions on how to configure the WS_FTP program in order to upload
your web files to your webspace. The instructions assume, you have installed a copy of
WS_FTP program on your PC and using the standard classic visual interface with the default
settings. You can download a fully functional trial version of this program from their website at
www.ipswitch.com.
Please follow the supplied installation instructions following the download.

1st Step, After a successful installation start the WS-FTP program by double clicking on
its program icon on your desktop or within the Start menu. You should start with the configured sites window on top of the main program window.
This is a list of configured sites which comes up in a seperate window, when you start the WS-FTP program or when you press the
connect button at the bottom left side of the main window (red circle). Click on a directory where
your site configuration should be placed (ie. MySites) and press the New button (red arrow) to configure
a new site within the selected directory.

Naming Your Website, A new window should appear on
top of the main program window titled
New Site/Folder. Type the domain name of your new site (ie. mydomain.com)
in the text box. Make sure, the FTP Site radio button is selected.
Press the Next button to move onto the next screen.

Your Site's FTP Address, The window should change to Host Name/Address.
Type the full host name and address of your website together (ie. www.mydomain.com). This
information is on your web hosting invoice. WS_FTP will find the location of your server using
your full domain name. Press the Next button to move onto the security details.
